Biography
Brian Cachia started out as a drummer at the age of twelve and soon realized his obsession with music. Living in a small shed out the back of his parents place, he used to wire tape recorders together using effects and hand made instruments to experiment with sounds to create recordings. Throughout the eighties and nineties as heavy metal and progressive rock became popular, Brian was a part of that wave performing in numerous bands. He became extremely proficient on drums and percussion then later moved onto guitar, bass, keys and anything else he could make a sound with. All contributing to the development of Brian's musical style.
After dedicating many years recording and touring with several high profile acts, Brian found himself behind the mixing console of a reputable recording studio in Sydney, where he practiced and evolved in the art of producing and engineering music. In 2000 he moved into an important stage of his musical journey, composition for the screen.
The years proceeding encompassed an abundant body of work of short features, documentaries, commercials while also producing many EP's and albums.
His debut for the arch angel epic, 'Gabriel, Far from Grace' was seen in cinemas throughout the world late 2007, courtesy of Sony Pictures. Gabriel has held its position in the top ten highest grossing films of all time in Australia for the past three years and the film's cult following is only becoming stronger.
An important aspect of Brian's scores is the simplicity that lay within the complexity, often using atmospheric tones that weave effortlessly through rich orchestrations or tribal rhythms.
His scores are often described as dark, powerful and emotive but Brian likes to just think of them as but another passage to help the journey of a willing audience.
